Remixthebook by Mark Amerika

by tttc | October 3rd, 2011

For those of you interested in the concept and practice of Remix, a friend of TttC, Mark Amerika has authored a book called remixthebook, published by University of Minnesota Press. Both Paule and Benjamin have worked with Amerika in the past in related areas, and took the course that the book was modeled after. And in typical Amerika fashion, the print book is accompanied by an awesome online resource that includes digital and textual, artistic and critical theoretical remixes of Amerika’s writings by different scholars and artists (the video below by Michelle Ellsworth being one among many cool remixes) as well as supplementary materials for those media, art, or technology educators interested in learning and teaching about the historical and theoretical tradition of remix AND blog posts by scholars interested in the practice of remix as it relates to their fields of study (among them is a post by Paule discussing Art History as Remix).

So, buy the book, check out the site, and try your hand at being a remixologist.
