Welcome to Talking through the Credits: A Media Literacy Initiative. Here’s what’s been happening most recently…

History & Theory of Digital Media Unit

The new unit features the Net Art Manifesto by Paule Mackrous in which n it, Paule uses innovative net art to present new ideas about artistic process & intent, form & function, authenticity, history–all in an effort to create greater awareness of the possibilities of (and limitations on) cultural production on the web. As well as a multimedia remix of Mark Amerika’s essay “Giving Form: Some Thoughts on Network Installations in the Age of Virtual Republishing,” in which he explores how past artistic traditions have informed, yet often go unnoticed by, contemporary art, literature, etc. that utilize new media technologies.

Media Literacy & Social Change Blog

Since Benjamin has been working on his dissertation, the blog activity has slowed quite a bit. So, in an effort to keep TttC alive and kicking and share some progress being made in the field of media literacy as it relates to social change, Benjamin will be using the blog to post recent research, review related publications, and discuss progress on his project.  Hopefully, this will both provide an opportunity to document the project’s progress and initiate public discussion on some important topics.
